Out With the Old, In With the New – Is Agile Really Revolutionary?

Is Agile a rip-up-and-replace revolution or does some of it grow out of proven practices? A recent blog post by @agilecoach on the virtues and benefits of Test Driven Development prompted some more general thinking along these lines. While Agile development transformation has been established as a groundbreaking movement, is this really so for the quality and test groups? For organizations transitioning from older software development models to various flavors of Agile there may be more to reuse than they suspected.
