Hardware-Software Collaboration in Agile Organizations

Can some form of Agile collaboration work for products involving both hardware and software? How can companies overcome differences between hardware and software like: Much longer cycle times Deeper specialization of team members, which limits task sharing Much higher costs for rework (refactoring) Separate engineering teams do add complexity to communications patterns. Still, for this issue and for cycle time and rework, real teams have found ways to get the benefits of Agile practices, and additional benefits they didn’t expect!
